My mother just called to tell me she heard about a big muni accident at the West Portal station in San Francisco. Evidently two muni trains collided (well, one rear ended the other). 47 people were injured, 4 seriously and 20 total were taken to the airport. The San Francisco Chronicle has a story about it.
In other news: I am a genius. Or at least quite clever. Feeling a bit peckish I decided to boil some eggs. But what is the age-old problem with boiling eggs? Yes, that's right, you put your eggs into boiling water and a shell breaks and gooey uncooked but soon to be cooked egg comes bubbling out. I reckoned that the reason this happens is because the bubbling boiling water causes the egg shells to bang against each other or the pot resulting in breakage.
If only there were a way to keep the eggs from undue jostling.
And then it occurred to me that, hey, I have a vegetable steamer. This would be a dandy way to hold my eggs still while they boil. So that's what I did. With spectacular results.
And that completes my story for today. (I also got a haircut and went grocery shopping, but that does not make for a very interesting story)
