Yesterday was meant to be an update day, but I got sidetracked with spending the better part of the day at the doctor's and then felt compelled to hammer away at some work stuffs that I hadn't managed to tackle during the day. The good news is that my blood sugar levels are like super way under control. So take that pancreas! Who needs you anyway. Everyone has been asking me if it's been hard to adjust and, you know, not really.
A couple of things, I think, made it easier. First is that I have never been a picky eater, so changing my diet was not an extreme change. I'm careful around carbs and eat more vegetables. Instead of potato chips I eat carrot sticks. Beans and whole grains (hooray quinoa!) are not a bigger part of my diet, and otherwise, not much has changed. But, more than that, since this all came on relatively slowly and I'd lived with it for 6 months before getting diagnosed and I didn't realize how incredibly crappy I felt. And once I started taking insulin it all got better. So, you know, not being able to eat potato chips is a relatively small price to pay for not feeling like the walking dead.
Anyway, enough of that. It has also come to my attention that when you try to register for my site you don't get a confirmation email. This is annoying. I'm working on a fix. Just need to find the time to devote to it. I might be able to spend some time on it tomorrow, maybe Saturday, maybe Sunday. We'll see. Alternatively, I suppose I could see if I could turn on comments or everyone and just moderate them.
And this is shaping up to be a rather eventful summer. This weekend there are myriad activities planned for Leyla's birthday. Two weeks from now I'm flying up to Seattle to a) hang with Vach and his fiance and b) hang with the Seattle Lindens. This will be fun. A week after that is Jess' graduation party, then I'm flying to Hawaii for Vach's wedding, then it's my birthday... and somewhere in the midst of all of this I'm trying to find a weekend to go camping. If anyone knows of some good camping spots between San Francisco and LA let me know.
