Well, now that SXSW is over and I managed to survive it, I figured it'd be a good idea to wrap things up with a final post. First off, days #5 and #6 were relatively uneventful. I spent the fifth day (Monday) largely taking a breather from the panels -- fortunately there wasn't much on the schedule that I was interested in -- so instead I spent the afternoon wandering around downtown Austin (pictures up on my flickr page). This was time well spent. The convention can get to be a bit oppressive and without a car it is somewhat difficult to get to explore. Fortunately, I'm a big fan of walking.
On Tuesday I caught a couple of panels, nothing really of note, and then met up with Kevin and Steph. Then to The Gingerman for a few drinks and then off to the Eastside Cafe for Steph's birthday dinner (the breaded catfish with broccoli was quite delicious). And then, you know, we actually had a really mellow night and it was all quite nice.
Wednesday was our last day in Austin. In exchange for a ridiculously terrific lunch at Lamberts Kevin and Steph were kind enough to give me a ride to the airport whereupon I flew from Austin to LA to SFO all without much in the way of incident. A BART ride to SF and a cab ride home, just in time for St. Patrick's day! Yay!
Actually, I mostly unpacked and ate a quick dinner. Around midnight I was decided that I really ought to do something for St. Patrick's day, I was wearing a green shirt and green socks after all, So I trudged down to the local bar and had a drink and then left. It was crowded and loud in there. I was in bed by 1:00.
And, today, was my first day back at work, which was immediately preceded by a fantastic night's sleep in my own wonderful bed, in my own wonderful apartment. It was also a gloriously sunny and warm day in San Francisco, and my work day was blessedly light. And then I came home and bought groceries so I was able to eat some blessedly tasty food.
