I've been looking for a decent (and free) CMS for a long, long time. And, because of that, my site has lain dormant for a long, long time. Over the years I've hacked together my own blogging system. I liked this because it gave me complete control over my data, my platform and all the data munging could be done in my own way. Unfortunately, this required me to manage my data, administer my platform and, well, munge my data.
I've tried using blogging platforms but they tended to have limited functionality, weren't extensible, and, most importantly, I couldn't do what I wanted to with my info.
I've tried Wordpress and I liked it. And as a blogging platform I think it very well designed. Unfortunately, I think it's somewhat limited to only being a blogging platform. And I'd like the ability to do more than that.
And so now I'm giving Drupal a shot. So far I like it... though I'm finding the content jail to be a bit concerning. But I think I can adjust to it. And I'm still learning the theme system. But, you know, so far so good.
Anyway, that is that. Onto more interesting matters.
Now that I have a system up and running again I'm going to try and get on a regular writing schedule. And I'm going to try and refine this site. And do other stuff.
