More Hawaii, Less Rain

This is technically day 3 in Hawaii, but it really feels like day 2. I was pretty much in a daze for most of yesterday but I got a good night's sleep last night and reckon I'll get out and some Hawaii things today. Ok, yes, yesterday I did go down to the beach. And yes, it was technically in the middle of a tropical storm, and yes, technically there were signs posted that said the beach was closed. But there were like little kids with water-wings playing around in the waves just down the beach. How dangerous could it be?

Well, it turns out, not very. But as I was walking along the beach a rather large wave came out of nowhere and toppled me over. Then it started raining. Stupid Nature.

After drying off I rested for a bit, went to the gym, and then met up with the Vacha-Parents for dinner. They are remarkably easy to carry on a conversation with. Also, the restaurant here is pretty good. Filet Mignon, seared Mahi, and haricot vert and almond broccolini as sides made for a delicious entree. Coupled with a glass of wine and a plate of mixed fruit for dessert (they had both a souffle and, if I remember correctly, some sort of custardy thing, but I was trying to avoid unnecessary carbs) and the meal was just about perfect. Even more perfect it barely budged my blood glucose. So, hooray for that.

I also owe the Vacha's dinner since they paid for me last night and I feel kind of bad. Though it was exceptionally nice of them.

And now I'm about to go grab lunch, but first, here's the view from my hotel room porch. It's a nice place to hang out.

Update: I met up with Jesse, Lori, Jason, Kendra and Jake for lunch and then we headed down to the pool for some much needed frolicking. There was even sun. Not much. Not all the time. But there was sun. The pools are nice and I'm thinking a trip to the hot tub may be in order, if not tonight then tomorrow.

After pool time we headed down to the beach and continued the fun time frolicking in the ocean. Other than an abundance of salt water in my ears and nose, it was fun. I even managed to "body surf," if such a term can, in fact, be applied to what I did. At any rate, it was fun. Dinner tonight and tomorrow we're taking a tour of Haleakala.
